Country: Greece

I’m an American expatriate living in Greece. My wife and I work with a charity that supports refugees in the (ironically titled) Omonia area of Athens. Though some of my idealism has given way to cynicism in this line of work, the continuing experience of working alongside the marginalised colours how I attempt to theologise.

I studied theology for a while in the heart of conservative American Evangelicalism – the staunchly premillennial-dispensational sort. Though not an altogether negative experience, I became quickly disillusioned with the certainties, subculture, politics… etc. After leaving this camp, I eventually completed a BTh in Ireland. In retrospect, I see this was as much a process of unlearning as learning.

I’m an amateur photographer, hillwalker, novice in modern Greek, bluffer in Arabic, fan of theology books with lots of footnotes, and I support the Irish Rugby team (so let’s not talk about the World Cup).
