Using the website

FAQ: a very short faq section.

Print this page: book pages have a built-in printer-friendly link at the bottom of each page. Other types of page do not have this option. However, if you have the most recent versions of Internet Explorer or Mozilla, your browser’s print functions (print and print preview) should give you a clean page without header and sidebar.

Private messages: if you are logged in, you can now send a private message to another registered user. To send a message, either use the link at the bottom of the article or comment (‘write to author’) or click on ‘view inbox’ in the navigation menu, choose ‘write a new message’, and insert the username of the recipient in the ‘To’ box (next time the name will appear in the ‘contents’ dropdown list). The ‘view inbox’ link also shows the number of unread messages in brackets.

Recent posts: a list of recent articles and comments posted on the site.

Search: search for content and users on OST.

Subscribe to article or category: registered users can subscribe to individual posts or threads or to general categories. Either click on ‘subscribe’ at the bottom of the article or got to ‘my subscriptions’ in the navigation menu where you can also choose to subscribe to a category. You will receive an email notifying you of any comments posted or additions made. This may be helpful if you are interested in a particular issue but don’t want to check the site regularly; also it can sometimes take a long time to get a response to a post.
