WYSIWYG if you're lucky

I’ve installed a rich text editor on a trial basis, which will make it easier for registered contributors to add moderate formatting to their work.

For example, you can use the indent button to format a paragraph as a block quote with a pale blue background.

It only works with up-to-date versions of IE and Mozilla. If you use another browser, you should see the standard text box as before. If it doesn’t work for you or is too slow or you just don’t like it, go to my account in the right menu, select edit, and disable the rich text editor option.

If you use the RTF editor, you should choose the ‘HTML with <p> and <br> for linebreaks’ input format below the text box.

Trouble with the toggle button

When I enlarge the Editor, the toggle button doesn’t work for me. I lost a whole post this way, and then when I went back in to check it before starting to write, it crashed again. I have IE and I’m all caught up. This sort of thing has me pretty convinced that I need to switch to Mozilla. Losing posts for me is akin to losing my face or my name. My identity is expressed in them, and when they disappear, I feel "disappeared". I hate it.

Warning needed

Yes, perhaps I should have added a warning to handle with care. Sorry about that. I’m not in a position to fully test it. What version of IE are you using? On Windows or Mac?

Version and other stuff

I have Internet Explorer 6 with a service pack 2 on a PC.

I also wanted to say that my paragraphs aren’t coming out broken. When I go to "Filtered HTML" and work and I break for another paragraph with the "return" key, it won’t render right in the post. Several times now, I’ve had to go back into "edit" and break the paragraph again in the WYSIWYG window.

WYSIWYG sometimes creates problems that aren’t fixable unless you know code really well, then you might as well do it in code. So I try to just work code as a discipline.

Remember you have the option

Remember you have the option of disabling the RTF editor: my account > edit.

Too new to remember, but...

…not too new to be told. Thanks, I’ll do it.
