Having spent quite a few weeks involved in extremely rewarding discussion here on OST, and especially in the light of recent posts, most notably the preterist argument, I wondered how contributors and emerging church theology viewed the supernatural element of Christianity. Since a preterist viewpoint strips the SecondComing of its ‘literalism’ and sees its fulfilment in a ‘natural’ event (i.e. the Roman destruction of Jerusalem being the means of divine judgement etc.) would other ‘supernatural’ elements in the Scriptures benefit from a not so literal interpretation. Events such as the Ten Plagues, which have been demonstrated as possible effects of the Thera volcanic eruption spring to mind. Is this something that a reforming mindset would have to consider dealng with?
