Upgrade in progress

I’m in the process of upgrading the site and you will find a few things that are not working properly or do not look right. Sorry about that. In the meantime, if you’ve got any good ideas for a new poll, let me know. I’ve got nothing up my sleeve at the moment.

atonement poll...?

how about a poll on views of the atonement?

it’d be extremely interesting to see what OpenSourceTheology members/users/viewers understand to be of what happened at the cross (and the resurrection). this seems to be a very ‘hot’ topic at the moment, given the steve chalke/EA debate on his book ‘the lost message of jesus’, which was essentially a debate on penal substitution.

Good idea

Do you want to suggest 3-5 positions to choose from. Others might want to help out here. It will be a challenge to get it succinct enough.

atonement poll ideas

how about…

Which of the following expresses most closely your understanding of what happened on the cross?:

  1. Jesus died in my place because God needed to punish sin
  2. Jesus’ death brought reconciliation with God
  3. Jesus’ death was at the hands of the powers
  4. Jesus’ death was a sacrifice demanded by God
  5. Jesus’ death paid a ransom
  6. Jesus’ death was an act of love so that we would love him

d’ya think that’d work at all…?

New Poll idea

Hi Andrew - hope you’re well. How about a poll on the importance of Global Justice issues within Emerging Church? Something like:

How important is:

International Debt - little, some, very HIV/AIDS - little some, very Trade Justice - litle, some, very Environment - little, some, very Persecuted Church - little, some, very Torture - litle, some, very Aid & Development - little, some, very

Cheers David

David, this would be interest

David, this would be interesting (I know it would certainly interest you!). My problem is that the poll module could only handle one of your issues at a time. You wouldn’t be able to apply a rating to several options. If you can think of a way of structuring it that would work with the limited format we have here, that would be fine.

Thanks, Andrew...

I’ll give that some thought and post again. Hope you’re well. Perhaps I’ll see you at the Emergent conference next week? Cheers David
