Newbie questions
|
Greetings from New Zealand. I found this site somewhat by accident. I have been in disscussion with someone about the divinity of Christ and googled “before Abrahan was I AM” to find an interesting discussion on the subject here. As can be seen in my bio I was a born-again evangelical Christian for 20 years. In the past 20 years I have moved further and further away from this theological position and now consider myself an ex-Christian. I would very much like to participate in this forum but first would like to know if my thoughts will be welcome, given my theological stance. During my “deconversion” for want of a better word I have thought a lot about such theological concepts such as the doctrine of original sin, the divinity of Christ, apparent discrepancies between Jesus’ theology (in the broadest sense), and Paul’s, the concept of revelation and whether it can be trusted, biblical inerrancy etc. Is there a search function on this site that will tell me which of these topics have already been covered? Re: Newbie questions
Sarah, thanks for signing up. I appreciate your candour about your ‘deconversion’. As far as I am concerned, there is no objection to your contributing to the discussions - you won’t be the only post-Christian around. My guess is you will actually bring a rather helpful perspective - we all need deconverting at times, on one way or another.
I wouldn’t worry too much about topics already covered. There tends to be a lot of repetition. Having said that there is a search option (see menu at top of page); you can click on the tags to get a list of related topics; and when viewing a post there will usually be a list of similar posts in a box on the right. Otherwise, it’s a complete mess and good luck to you finding anything you’re looking for.
