‘that faith is measured not so much by what we believe to be true, but in the outward evidence of what we believe, in acts of generosity, compassion and forgiveness.’
In response to Rob Bell’s above statement, I would have to refute his idea that faith is not measured by what we believe. It is very important what we believe, for it is what we believe to be truth which will be the source of the outpouring of our expressions. Even so there is some partial truth that our expression is certainly very indicative of what we believe to be true. If there is no evidence of ‘generousity, compassion or forgiveness’, then there is reason to question the source of our truth. For as scriptures say, ‘Faith without works is dead’.
