I must admit that I found this last little bit somewhat disturbing:
To me, it would have been much more helpful to my spiritual growth to have attended a lecture where the historical proofs for Christ’s resurrection were presented, rather than trying to mystically connect with the deep past through images, etc., that, to me, said very little as to whether the event they commemorate ever actually happened.
Really? I mean….really? You don’t think a lecture on the "historical proofs of the resurrection" wouldn’t have been equally (likely much, much more) contrived?
Doesn’t the fact that these people are recreating and reexperiencing this event not only evince their view of it’s reality, but also actively produce the events reality in the present? Isn’t spirituality something that happens now, rather than at one single moment in the past?
