i appreciate the distinctions made between wisdom, understanding, and knowledge as well as the imagery…from both the bible as well as your own thoughts.
a long time favorite passage of mine is Proverbs 20.5 “The purposes in the human mind are like deep water, but the intelligent will draw them out” (NRSV)
The NIV renders the latter half “…but a man of understanding draws them out”. I see the Hebrew root for “intelligent” or “understanding” here is the same as in Proverbs 24.3.
i’m curious what your thoughts might be on how this passage may relate to your exposition and what it means for how we are to live this out practically, particularly in the role of spiritual (trans)formation.
[btw, i’m a new user from the US and this is my first post here. i’m a seminary student…not a definitive scholar. i visit the site occasionally to see new discussions but this post prompted me to register and comment.]
