'To make matters worse...'
Sorry, Virgil. The phrase ‘To make matters worse’ falls somewhere between a personal apology for talking so much about eschatology and a recognition that many may feel this seeming obsession with obscure -ologies and -isms somewhat alien to the postmodern spirit of the emerging church. It shouldn’t be taken to mean that I regard the conversation between the emerging church and preterism as damaging or a waste of time. I accept Makaden’s point that I have (inadvertently, I feel) ended up advocating a line of thought that sounds very much like preterism. But I really don’t like the label - and I suspect we are both aware of the pitfalls inherent in this association.
