On breaking the bonds of sin
Dear Grifgraf
I am responding to your post on "Breaking the bonds of sin is hard". This issue has been discussed at great length in previous threads. You assume that the biblical injunctions relating to homosexuality are obvious and that anybody (such as myself) who does not accept them is engaging in revisionism. Before you proceed further could I ask you to read the relevant threads and in particular the material by Walter Wink. His argument, supported by a detailed scriptural analysis, is that we all, both liberals and traditionalists pick and choose when it comes to the statements of the scriptures about sex; and that the bible simply does not have a once and for all sexual morality.
You will no doubt still disagree with me when you have read this material but perhaps with a better appreciation of the complexities and nuances of the issue.
